Jordan Magnuson’s Gametrekking project

Hi there,

I just came across this really awesome dude, doing a really awesome project. His name is Jordan Magnuson and he’s going to do Gametrekking. Gamewhatting? Gametrekking, he’s going to travel around the world (or at least Asia) and make games about what he experiences.

Is that ridiculous? No it’s not! It’s awesome! Don’t believe me? Maybe you should play some of his (not)games:

The game that got him started on this project (I believe) was Freedom Bridge. It’s a small game about the ironically named ‘Freedom’ bridge that connects South Korea with North Korea. This game’s got a lot of attention and inspired Mr Magnuson to make this journey. Here’s a link: ^^

Another game he recently published is called Loneliness. I don’t want to spoil the game by telling you what it’s about, I suppose you’d better play it yourself (only takes 5 mins). What is particularly interesting about this game, apart from being very interesting itself, are the comments it received. You should check them out on the Indie Games Blog: :S. People always get really touchy about art games, often complaining the game has waisted their time or is not ‘good’ enough to earn their appreciation. In my opinion these people are dicks, I think that if you don’t like a game then you shouldn’t play it. If a game is badly made you’re allowed to comment on what you’d like to see improved. If you dislike the game itself, just leave it alone! Anyways, here’s a link to ‘loneliness’: :)

The only problem with his journey is that Mr Magnuson needs support. Travelling is expensive and he’s just a poor (but awesome) indie game developer. If you like what he does, go back him now! He’s got a kickstarter project up waiting to be overloaded with money, so go do your indie duty: Donate!

If you want to know more about the project itself you should visit it’s website: =D

Cheers,

Maxim
